South Carolina State Fair

Taking place each October in Columbia, the South Carolina State Fair is an exciting, family-friendly event that combines live entertainment, local exhibits, livestock and exciting carnival rides. With competitions for everything from fine art and flowers to sheep and swine, the State Fair is a local tradition that honors the region's farming heritage. Visit the petting zoo, indulge in tasty carnival treats, play games of chance on the midway and explore a large range of exhibits and free entertainment.

    Bring plenty of cash for the fair. Beyond the price of entry, you’ll want extra funds for the exciting rides on the Midway, excellent state fair food and maybe even a souvenir.
  • Are there activities suitable for younger children?

    Absolutely. Younger children especially enjoy the sand sculpture competition, the rocket, donkey and mule show, petting zoo and anything else having to do with animals.
